Christine laughing young girl in a hat engrossed in a story Scrumping
A long time ago when I was a girl, I lived in a small village. I had two special friends called Tom and James. We played games together every day after school and every Saturday and Sunday.

At one end of our village lived a grumpy old man. He was called Major Brown, he complained about everything but mostly about us. We were too noisy, too nosey and too nasty – according to him. He lived all by himself in an enormous house with a large garden which included an orchard.

Ø National Book Day, Children’s Book Week, Writers’ Squads, school visits and user groups can all provide a focus for storytelling in libraries. Christine has experience of working in libraries all over the world, including Birmingham Central Library where she told stories for a project on the Second World War, and San Antonio Texas, where she worked with young library users as part of the outreach work of a literature festival.

In South Wales libraries Christine has told stories relating to celebrations and feasts. She has worked with immigrant communities in a library project supporting language and storytelling skills amongst both parents and children. She works with young parents supporting their skills and confidence in telling stories and rhymes to their own children.

Christine provides storytelling workshops for librarians, to help the development of programmes to encourage new young borrowers.
